To install Live Channel from a CD, drag the Live Channel folder to your hard disk.
If you run Live Channel directly off the CD you will not be able to import media.
Registration
When you run Live Channel, it will offer you to register on-line.
If you don't have a serial number for your copy of Live Channel, you will receive one by e-mail after registering.
Until you enter a serial number, you can use Live Channel in demo mode, which does not allow broadcasting.
Preventing System Conflicts
To prevent conflicts which might halt the system while broadcasting with Live Channel, avoid running any other applications, especially ones which use network services. Turn off File & Web Sharing, mail scheduling, Sherlock volume indexing and automatic software updating. In the Energy Saver control panel, set the system to never enter sleep mode.
Using Input Devices
Connect your input devices (such as FireWire camera, USB camera and microphone)
to the computer before starting the application.
(Make sure they are turned on.)
To use those devices in the software, select one of the input windows,
and choose the desired device in the information window.
Using Media Files
To use media files in the software (such as audio clips, video clips and images)
use the "Import…" command to import them into the software before starting your broadcast.
Once the files are imported you can drag them from the media browser window
to any of the clip windows.
Switching Sources
To switch any source into the broadcast, click the "Next" button on the source window,
then use the switcher window to switch it in, using cut, fade or transition.
To switch a live source out, click the "Next" button to turn it off,
then use the switcher window to switch it out.
Broadcasting
Choose "Settings…" to open the broadcast settings window, and set the broadcast parameters.
(The free version of Live Channel only allows the streaming server mode.)
Choose "Announce Server…" to create a reference movie to your server.
Choose "Start Broadcast" to start broadcasting.
Viewing the Broadcast
Use QuickTime Player on any Mac or PC to open the reference movie you created.
If you are building your own web page, you can also embed the movie in the web page, to be viewed by any QuickTime-enabled web browser.
